At Minerva Innovation Group, we’re proud of the talented individuals who form the backbone of our team. Our "Day in the Life" series gives an insight into the daily routines of these professionals and highlights the passion and dedication they bring to their work.

Today, we’re thrilled to feature Adam, the founder of Minerva Innovation Group. From his leadership role to his personal commitment to the growth of the business, Adam’s day is a true reflection of his dedication to both his family and the team at Minerva Innovation Group.

Role at Minerva Innovation Group

Founder/Director

Approximately 2:00 AM / 3:00 AM

The baby monitor goes off and I go into my baby daughter's room to attend to her. It's usually a case of her accidentally throwing her "Bunbun" out of her cot, losing a sock, or needing a cuddle after a nightmare. Within about 15 minutes, I'm back in bed and asleep again.

6:00 AM - 7:00AM

My alarm goes off and I head downstairs to the kitchen. I have my first double espresso of the day. This is usually the only time of the day I get to myself so I look out of the window and enjoy the silence.

7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

My daughter wakes up. We enjoy breakfast together. She has her porridge and a glass of milk, and I'll have another double espresso. I get her ready and we leave for nursery/office. Getting a toddler to put on a bib and brush their teeth is often the toughest negotiation of the day, so it's a great warm-up for the work day ahead.

9:00 AM - 9:30AM

On Monday mornings, we kick things off with an internal coffee catch-up to ease into the working week. Many staff work fully remotely, so it's nice to socialise and hear what people have been up to over the weekend.

9:30 AM -10:00 AM

Weekly PA catch-up. Rosie and I discuss anything from selecting a new IT provider (to streamline technical on-boarding and off-boarding) to discussing potential networking events to reviewing CVs of job applicants.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

We try and contain most of our internal meetings to a Monday morning, so people can focus on their deliverables thereafter (e.g drafting technical reports, producing cost calculations, etc). As part of this, the deliverables team has a catch-up to discuss this month's client deliverables (e.g R&D claims) and the accounts team has a catch-up to discuss other client matters (e.g liaising with clients to agree timelines and associated milestones for their next R&D claim).

12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

I received a number of calls last week after our feature in The Scottish Farmer. Most of our clients and prospective clients wish to communicate via Teams, but most farmers we work with prefer to speak face to face, so I scheduled a number of onsite visits for the next weeks. I drive from our Glasgow office to Dumfriesshire to meet a mixed farming company. I can't say too much about their R&D but we discussed how they investigated a number of interventions with the aim of appreciably improving livestock productivity and crop yields.

5:00 PM - 8:00PM

I head straight from the farm to the nursery, and we head home. My wife, my daughter, and I enjoy dinner, before it's bed time for the wee one.

8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

My wife and I relax together and usually watch some very simple TV shows, like Married At First Sight Australia or Love is Blind.

10:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Once everyone is asleep, I have another coffee and catch up on emails as well as general admin. Being on top of my emails and admin is important, so I can focus on deliverables (e.g. R&D claim reviews) and client calls (e.g. technical interviews) on the subsequent days.

As the founder of Minerva Innovation Group, Adam’s day is a balancing act between family, business, and the pursuit of excellence in R&D tax relief. His commitment to client relationships, internal team collaboration, and the continuous growth of the company sets the standard for what Minerva Innovation Group strives to achieve. Whether it's a hands-on approach with clients or nurturing the future of the business, Adam’s leadership continues to shape the company’s success and drive its mission forward.
